Eldia was preparing to strike the final blow, a great trial to reclaim their lost homeland and become the world’s dominant superpower once and for all, when they were suddenly whisked away to another world. Things were finally coming to a head 200 years after the establishment of the three walls. Generations hence, the bad blood between Eldia and Marley has never healed, with their sporadic wars spurring on both the heights of science as well as the depths of human atrocity. In one of the great ironies of history, Krista Fritz was both Eldia’s last monarch and its first president. Thus, she and her legal experts drafted a new type of government, where elected representatives would rule rather than hereditary nobles. With most of the old nobility gone and their population halved, maintaining a massive aristocracy like that which had existed in the old Empire was no longer possible. When the walls and the cities within were completed, Queen Krista Fritz announced that she could no longer serve them as their queen. Founder Ymir accepted, granted Krista’s wishes, and departed from this plane of existence for the great hereafter. Striking a deal with Founder Ymir, she relinquished her influence over the invisible Paths connecting all Eldians in exchange for three massive walls to protect her people, more than 9 years of life for the Titan-shifters, and the freedom to control the forms of the Titans themselves. When she and her followers arrived, she decided to put at least one of her brother’s ideas to good use. Even the power of the Nine was unable to resist the endless tide, and Queen Krista Fritz was forced to evacuate the population of mainland Eldia across the ocean, to a distant continent in the far south-west of the world. The Marleyans, who had been promised land and empire within former Eldian holdings, took matters into their own hands and united a great host of the other nations, to overtake the divided and weakened Eldians. While her effort was successful, Krista Fritz was unable to undo all of her brother’s works.

Following this, she and her loyalists embarked on a campaign to reclaim the Nine Titan Powers from the traitorous nobles. She reclaimed the power of the Founding Titan from her unworthy brother, and was crowned Queen Krista Fritz, the 146th Monarch of Eldia. However, before he could abandon his people, a palace coup led by his sister Krista Fritz successfully deposed both him and his followers. He, conspiring alongside the corrupt Tybur family, planned to betray his subjects to the hostile Marleyans, and flee with a select few to the island of Paradis while the rest of the empire was enslaved and murdered.

The old houses of the aristocracy were tearing each other apart in the Great Titan War, and the reigning monarch was King Karl Fritz, the most craven coward to ever sit the throne. The story of the Eldian National Republic began in the year 743, the twilight of the old Eldian Empire.
